Art 1 Final Exam

1.   Which project was your favorite or most successful this semester? Please explain. This was my favorite project to do because it involved clay. I've always had a thing for working with clay even though i've never been the best at it, it keeps me busy because after you're done sculpting it you get to paint it next. My most successful project was also this one because I like the colors, different textures, and the animal/biome that I chose. It all came together really nicely and my favorite part about the whole picture is the copper rocks that I made. I was orignally going to paint them just a normal flat brown but I'm glad i took a chance on the copper because i feel like it really adds something small and special to the clay tile. I think i could've improved on this by giving the water more texture and adding more coral to the tile. All in all, the whole project is my favorite and was my favorite expirience. It wasn't super challenging but it was really interesting to make and i learned a lot from it!
2.    Regardless of whether you liked or disliked a project, which one did you learn, grow, or developed the most from? Please explain.
The landscape painting was helpful to me because I learned how to mix and blend colors correctly. Not only did this project help me with learning about the colors and blending but it also helped me understand what colors go together. After I started mixing paints and putting them next to each other i realized just how much i never payed attention to the color wheel and how certain colors correlate with one another. I'd always wondered why my paintings never looked just the way i wanted them to and now i know it's because i never even tried to pick colors that compliment each other! I actually do like this painting ( i've added onto it) I'm proud of how far i've come and i think i did a pretty good job with the blending and textures. If i could improve anything i probably would've picked a different picture to go off of because the picture i picked was too complex for me to try and paint. However, this whole project helped me grow tremendously.

Choose 1 piece of Art that you used skills and techniques learned from previous projects. Discuss your growth as an artist and how you incorporated these skills and techniques to create the piece.
This piece was fun! i learned a lot from it but i also knew some things in advance. One of my favorite things to do is make collages, which we did quite a bit in this project. I also got to splatter paint with water colors, i love to splatter paint as well. Another thing that i was already familiar with was spray painting, i've done two stencil projects before and they helped me with this project. The Xacto knife was new to me. The way we had to do in depth research was also new to me. But all in all the project was a learning expirience even though i already had some things under my belt.
4.    Which project do you feel was the least important in learning the concepts taught in this course? Please explain.
I feel like this project helped me the least because it was only showing me how to draw in perspective. We had already done things that were showing us how to draw things just by looking at them. This project was fun though and it actually did help me with learning how to make things darker the farther away they are, and also with making texture by using watercolor and colored pencils together.  I enjoyed doing this drawing but it was probably not my best. It also didn't help me as much as the other ones did, but it was still a good project, just not as affective as others for me.

5.  Choose a piece of artwork where the subject matter reflects you as an artist; one that you have a personal connection to. Please explain your choice.
Although this picture isn't my best work, i think it really explains me.  Elephants are my favorite animal so i loved doing this project. It was really challenging, the carving of the linoleum was the hardest part but it was so fun and helped me learn a lot. I look at this piece and i see so many ways that it could be fixed or bettered but i love the colors and i love the animal , and the setting and just everything it stands for! This project wasn't my favorite either  but it stands for me. This class was fun overall and i'm going to miss it a lot. I loved all the projects we did and i learned from every single one of them, whether it was a small lesson or a big one. I can't wait until next year to take art again!
