SELF EVALUATION

1.     Describe the overall composition of your artwork (balance, unity, rhythm and movement).
All the lines, negatives, postives, and colors all come together in my print. I think it's all very balanced and makes for a really unique print.

2.     How did you add texture and contrast to your print? Is this important? Why?
By scultping many wrinkles on the elephants skin I added a lot of texture, and if I had not added much texture the elephant wouldn't stand out from the background of the piece and it would be bland. Texture adds detail to a piece of art, and creates contrast. It also makes the work of art more realistic, so i believe that texture is important.

3.     Explain how you used positive and negative space to show your image.
In this piece i believe i used more postive than negative space, but it balanced out nicely. the places i cut out make the places that rise look very defined and detailed.

4.     Describe the craftsmanship of your print. (How good the project is technically crafted)
My print is very neat, within the registration marks. I like the colors and the balance between negative and positive space. The only thing i dont really care for is the way i cut the tusks of the elephant but other than that i really think my print was crafted well.

5.     Were you able to achieve depth by showing a foreground, middle ground and back- ground? Explain.
Yes I was, because whenever you look at my print you are able to see the mountains, tree, and sun, in the background. Without these things in the background my picture would look very flat. I believe I achieved depth well.

6.     Explain your experience with Printmaking. What were the obstacles and advantages?
I really enjoyed prinkmaking. I know it may seem dumb, but the only obstacle i really had was picking out the colors, i just couldnt decide. But everything else was an advantage. It was a fun project!

Chalk Mural Critique

Self evaluation (must write at least 3 sentences for each question)
1. Explain your experience working on a team and executing your ideas for the mural.
It was quite an adventure. A lot of people had different ideas and we all had to cooperate to make the piece of art express all of us. It was a challenge trying to please everyone but i think we executed it well.
2. Explain the importance of collaboration when working on a team.
Collaboration is a big deal because without it everyone would be upset and unsatisfied, other wise leading to conflict. So it's very important, especially in this project because tons of people were going to be seeing it for  a long time. A team should cooperate smoothly in order to see the bigger picture.
3.  How successful was this project? Explain how and why.
At first our project wasn't very good. But after we added lyers in it the picture started to depth, and look more detailed. So in the end i think we did very well, but personally, I still believe that we could've done better.
4. Explain how you feel about creating artwork that others can interact with. Ex. Invoving the whole school?
It makes me proud because our art is being seen by everyone. It also puts pressure on my group and I because we feel pressured to make the piece flawless. But really, i enjoy making interactive art because  seeing people smile and laugh and see other people's creativity come out in the way they interpret the art, makes me happy.
Print Sketch Critique

1. Why is texture so important to have in your sketches?
If you never have texture in your sketches than everything looks flat and all of it looks alike. When you look at something in real life it isnt textureless or bland, it has wrinkles or holes or something of the sort. So whenever you sketch you should always add texture to make the sketch as realistic as possible.

2. Why is it neccessary for you to have several references of each animal and each background? Explain.
It's important because it's good to have a mixture of ideas and visuals to pull from. Whenever you're running dry on creativity juice you can use multiple references to complete one idea and make it into your own. You never copy though, just use them as help. The more pictures you have to refer back to the better idea you get of the subject of your art.

3. When you look at your sketches are you able to see which sketch is the strongest and will make the best print? How do you know this?
Right now the best sketch I have is the seahorse because it has the most texture and is the most complete. My peacock is second, but the landscape for the seahorse has the most detail. I'm sure of this because Ms. Rossi agreed.
